I heard something about a CSS server in the near future...
Slots? Maps? Mods/plugins? Costs?
What's the plan to make it work this time, unline the previously never-populated server with odd settings?
I'd like to help you guys out on this one. Currently the only thing I'm playing is a surf server full of people who don't know how to read rules and act more mature than 12-year olds.

Maps: Italy/Office/Dust2 and others that are wanted.
The old server failed for a number of things. The odd settings included mods that were installed but not in use (helping take resources). We also still need member support and recruitment to continue.
Edit: The server is still getting played with at the moment. For now the name is Total Half Life =/

This is my personal opinion, but I do get tired of playing regular CSS nowadays. I love CSS for the variety of mods and plugins. IF there is enough support for it, maybe the server could run a mod of some kind that would really attract some players.
I've found that 24/7 DM on a 3-map rotation (dust2, italy, office) or 24/7 Zombie on lila_panic (and maybe another map or two) are pretty much guaranteed to attracting lots of players.
Just my $.02, and I'd like to hear what others think of it. Also, Dan and I both worked on various server settings for a while, and I would always be willing to offer advice/help when it comes to server settings.

Problem with zombie gamemodes: they suck
DM is okay, though. I suggest we have gamemode rotation, if possible.
I do like that idea; however, it would be difficult to implement. You'd basically have to have a backup of the server downloaded somewhere, and every time you wanted to play a different mode you would have to mess with the FTP server a lot.Originally Posted by FBC

The server is basically set up as IP Address - game directory, right? So it's like:
123.45.67.890:27015/hl2/cstrike or something like that.
If you duplicated the cstrike folder (since that's where all the server files are; rename it to cstrikez or cstrikedm or cstrikegg for whatever mod), then install the mod on the proper cstrike directory. Whenever you want to switch the server's game mode, rename the cstrike directory currently in use, then take the new one you want to use and rename it to cstrike. That actually should be all you need to do. Only potential problem is server storage space, but even then you can usually get like 500GB of storage and that would be like 50 times more than anything we need. It actually might be really simple.

You would need to run hslupdate, as an example, 5 times for 5 configs?
You can edit the "crontablist.txt" file to have the server play certain mods at certain times ie. gun game on Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun then Deathmatch Tue, Thurs and Sat. You could even put it from 6pm to 9pm add in some surf maps etc if you like.
This may help you populate the server and if you need a hand setting up the server just let me know.
Dan, I will take you up on that, I started writing the adminlist and admin groups, then ended up chasing my own issues with my computer. Tag me next time you have some time to spare, cause I sure have a few questions.
